Amendment: Civil unions for both homosexuals and heterosexuals. Abolition of legal marriages.

Reasoning: Marriage is religious and should be kept religious. Separation of church and state. Legally both heterosexuals and homosexuals should have the same rights.

So is civil union the same as marriage in the new taxes that people will be filing?

Screw Semantics a marriage is a civil union, we'll just let the states decide what they call it as long as they call it the same thing for each. We can't argue marriage is an unsuitable term because of religion so are things ranging from the days of the week to the months of the year. As far as I'm concerned they are the same.

Amendment: Marriage and Civil Unions shall be considered the same states may call them officially what they wish as long as each term be considered the same for all orientations.

Umm they are different at the moment. As long as we make it a federal civil union. The reason is that civil unions only exist in the state so you don't get the same rights everywhere. Marriage is federal. Or something like that, don't know the details.

Also, how is the word "marriage" religious? People who are not religious still get married. People all over the world have their own words for marriage, they don't refer to them as civil unions. Just wondered.

Again the official legal term will be allowed to be decided by the states as long as term is the same for all sexual orientations.

What I was stating is that there's a difference between the two at the moment and my views on how it should be done. Make civil union the legal term and marriage the religious term. Sorry if that came out wrong. Anyway on making the two the same...
