Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility Empty Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility

Post by J-Mads Wed Oct 14, 2009 10:46 pm

The Presidential election has been declared Shenanigans by 3 people, meaning it requires investigation. Both candidates have a soft support for a recount, although both admit Drew's victory.

First, we put to a vote, and all posting members of the board may vote. Will we have a recount?

If we decide Nay, then this committee will dissolve and Drew (or Holly) will take office, pending Drew's potential resignation, which I expect he will retract.

If we decide Yay, we will draft a voter eligibility test, then apply it to all forum members, create a list of registered, eligible voters, and have a revote as soon as possible.

My resignation is a non-binding notice. Essentially if Inauguration comes and no decision is made, then Holly will serve. Law and precedent state that this committee has until inauguration to settle this otherwise Holly will take office. Now, she can still be removed, but never the less, she would be President until a decision is made.

Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility Empty Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility

First off, I would like to state that I joined this forum on my own grounds. Yes I was encouraged to join the forum by Mr. Hanna, who I have become acquainted with over the last few months.

I have been browsing this forum for approximately four weeks time, and decided to join recently due to the elections being held.

I researched and voted for the candidate at my own discretion without any assistance from Mr. Hanna or any other candidate. I instead voted for the candidates that supported the beliefs that I support.

So Yes, while Mr. Hanna encouraged me to vote in the elections, the vote that was cast was entirely at my own discretion without any assistance from anyone else involved in this forum.

Mr. Hanna, anyone who is willing to post a vote may do so. It seems that we will likely have a revote.

Ok, we will have a revote, hopefully tomorrow, now we need to set standards for eligible voting.

I propose a minimum post count of 5, the account having been registered for at least a week prior to the election, and in cases of old accounts with many posts, at least 2 posts in the 2 weeks prior to the election in the simulation area.

I also believe we should allow persons wishing to vote, but failing those criteria, to request permission to vote with the active members determining through simple majority yay-nay voting.

Any amendments? If not, post a yay or nay vote on this set of criteria.

I vote Yay on matt20's voting rights, if others wish to discuss it.

Amendment: Anyone who has served in an office in the sim may vote. As I know there are some people who have been very busy and were not able to serve (for example Alex if she had not been chosen as VP would have been in that position, and it is likely that Max Lustig will be in this position as well)

Nay on the amendment. We already have a provision for long time members, and no requirement of office is included, so this is unnecessary.

yay on rules. nay on matt20. after this is set, he may be eligible, but until today(?) he had nothing written on the forum, with only votes in evidence of his further existence. I like to know a person is actually participating before they count. otherwise, I could get plenty of people to register, or make my own fake log-ins, and then vote for them, or tell them to vote. it just does not work.
