Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
NOTE: People, you need to vote and you need to vote on this tonight, if you do not then the polls will not open tonight, and if the polls don't open tonight, then weird shit happens that I'm looking up right now. I remember Harnick once explaining to me what does happen, but I cannot recall it

Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
OK: I looked it up and basically this is it:
Sunday at midnight, a new President comes in, regardless if the polls have closed.
If the polls have not closed then the Vice President-elect who won the last recount takes office until a President is certified. THEREFORE, if the polls don't open in 2 hours Holly will be President for at least a few hours

Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
Ok, Matt20 can vote, the vote on the amendment is 3-0. 2 more votes needed to pass, 5 votes needed to reject
Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
nay. we already have that clause as stated earlier, if you are a previous member, 2 posts within 2 weeks. as since all previous members have held positions and all position holder have been members, this is pretty much the same amendment that you tried to pass earlier. think people.
nay. already covered. say no to redundancy

Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
the old amendment is below
we just did this same exact thing, as I just said a minute ago, and here is proof. do we not remember this?
the new amendment...
look at this contradiction right there. I mean really guys. drew voted no to his amendment earlier. and then put it out again.
nay. again.
The Prez wrote:Amendment: Anyone who has served in an office in the sim may vote. As I know there are some people who have been very busy and were not able to serve (for example Alex if she had not been chosen as VP would have been in that position, and it is likely that Max Lustig will be in this position as well)
J-Mads wrote:Nay on the amendment. We already have a provision for long time members, and no requirement of office is included, so this is unnecessary.
strangerthanfiction wrote:Yea on the original stuff, yea to Matt20, nay to the amendment.
The Prez wrote:Yea, I see the provision, NAY to the amendment as well, I repeal it

Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
First off, this is not true, there are people who have served in office that do not meet the other requirements
Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
Well I didn't think I had backing for it, but then Alex found out she misread it and wanted to change her vote, but I had repealed so I posted it again
Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
Henry Clay cannot vote in the 2010 Congressional elections.

Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
Since it 11 Eastern I don't think this amendment can pass in an hour, in the interest of not having the awkward situation of a President Sheldon for like six hours, I revoke the amendment. POLLS OPEN
Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
I wish to register to vote.
It is six days before elections, and I am a candidate for Vice-President.
Also, you have no reason to fear me: I am not a communist, a terrorist, nor am I soviet. My status as a Cheesehead, however, is arguable.
In a democracy, the people rule. I am a person. I desire a say in this democracy!

The people are too stupid to govern themselves! Their rights are important but they have not the time nor the expertise necessary to rule on all issues.

Re: Temporary Committee on Voting Eligibility
nay, for not knowing this is a representative republic. nothing personal. I would like to propose a test, like a citizenship test to all new members to prevent such a thing from occurring. after the test is passed, they have all the rights of another sim member, no questions asked. and no voting either
