CR2- Resolution on Aid Budgeting; Wachob (LAW)

When the US Government officially calculates and agrees to a budget, this resolution promises an increase in aid to infrastructures of lesser developed countries equal to .7% of the GDP.

.7% GDP is what the UN has asked more affluent countries to spend on donations. While bowing to international organizations is not something I like doing, in this case the structure of the WTO and IMF perpetuate the abuse of poorer countries with unfair free-market dictations. The free market ideology could benefit everyone, if the lesser developed countries could get just a little help in terms of infrastructure, so that health and education programs can put in place, as well as roads leading to markets for trade, and then a progressive domestic tax can be installed as the population accumulates some small level of wealth.

If we continue to donate .2-.4% we will be stuck giving money forever. If we take advantage of the debt cancellation from China and temporarily increase our aid spending, we can in the long term save money and find new trade partners.
