Head to Head - Sweet Child of Mine vs Bohemian Rhapsody

Pick one and defend it.

Personally I like Bohemian Rhapsody on the grounds that Sweet Child of Mine is way overplayed. Not that I'm not a huge Guns n Roses fan, but seeing it at every event and in every movie has made me sorta mad.

Yea that's true. It's an insanely original song, nothing else is like it.

No, because I want to do a bunch of Head to Heads and some will be artists, albums, etc.

And why these two? They're completely different styles.

This is essentially my opinion for the same reason because I like GnR. A lot.

Not a huge queen fan myself. It's there only good song.

Queen has quite a few good songs:
-Somebody to Love
-You're My Best Friend
-Killer Queen
-Crazy Little Thing Called Love

You could argue that GnR did that too.

No you can't. Give me a GnR song that isn't the same genre of rock and roll that was popular when they were popular. All their stuff is just a mixture of hard rock and power ballads.

Queen was part of the unique era of rock known as the Progressive Rock era (now hated among voters for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it seems)

I never said that. I don't think anyone did. I'm pointing out the fact that GnR never did. I like their music and I think Slash is a great guitarist but they didn't really stretch the boundaries of music. There's a difference. For example I loved ACDC but they never really stretched the boundaries of anything except drug abuse.

When you break down GnR's music there's no genreical(made up a word!) difference between Welcome to the Jungle and Nightrain or any of their other music. It's all the same genre and it is the same genre that many played at the same time.

Hmmm, I see what you're saying. I will point out, interestingly enough, that if one looks up Use Your Illusion I on iTunes it comes up as Rock and Use Your Illusion II comes up as Metal. I'm just grasping for straws here.

I will say though, just because a group stretched the boundaries of music doesn't make them better than another, but it does make them damn good.
