Schoeppich for all of Freshman and all of Senior year (didn't choose her for ANY semester but got her anyway).
Huber for all of Sophomore year.
Mrs. Ehmann and Miss Ryan (now Mrs. Weiss) for Junior year.
I liked Huber, and maybe I learned a little in there but other than reading Animal Farm I don't remember much... and I liked Miss Ryan because she wanted me so badly, which was fun. But I bs'ed her class.

I had Kryder for all of freshman year and Piatek all the way until I moved.
In addition, I had Huber for AP Lang and Schoeppich and Vella for electives

Oh yeah, I had Vella for Film Study. What a frigging joke of a class. And she picked awful movies. No amount of physical attractiveness could make me like her class.

Film Study sucks. It was sooo much better here.
Re: OCD vs. Indifference (or Roommates, Shots, and other things that come in threes)
Really Luke? Vella?
Actually, I had her all 9th.
Piatek 10.
Huber/Pankow 11.
Weiss this semester and Schoeppich for Theater.

Schoeppich all of freshman year (English 10-12) and all of junior year (English 10-12 and AP Lang).
Kryder for the first semester sophomore year, along with Creative Writing and Theatre. Pankow for the second semester.
Mrs Derrico for AP Lit.
And I really learned how to write and analyse in AP Lang and AP Lit. Really improved under Schoeppich, I must say... went from getting 4s and 5s on essays to 8s and 9s. And then I learned how to be fairly consistently good under Mrs Derrico, getting pretty much 7s to 9s for the entire course. And everything we read sort of made me want to do more of it. I guess it helped contribute to my decision to study English... although I'd sort of decided to do it since freshman year because it was the thing that interested me the most besides history.

Ryan, at East there isn't much to choose from for attractive teacher. And you have to have one, it's a right of passage, so Vella it is. I can't say I ever had a teacher at East that I thought was very attractive, so you gotta compromise.
Alex, maybe if I had taken the AP Lang/AP Lit course, I would've found English more worthwhile. But I learned to write in the social studies department, through Nogo and Redmond. Especially Nogo, because Redmond took so long to grade papers that he only assigned one or two all year.

Re: OCD vs. Indifference (or Roommates, Shots, and other things that come in threes)
We only ever did one AP Gov essay... ever...
Nogo taught me how to write history papers but Schoeppich/Derrico taught me how to write English papers. There is a difference. English papers ended up being more enjoyable, anyway.
Also, in regards to the teacher thing: "you have to have one"? Seriously, I've never had a crush on a teacher... not that I had any to pick from, but still. It's not exactly a rite of passage. (However, I did have a friend who was pretty much borderline in love with Redmond freshman year...)

Harnick taught me how to write history papers and he did an incredible job at it. Pankow taught me how to write English papers in Lang and I have to say I'm SUCH a better writer after that class. Granted I was pretty bad before but I still improved a lot.
And do you have to HAVE the teacher? Because Mrs. Williams is hot... but I've never had her.

I had derrico freshman and jr (10-12/APLang) sophmore was pankow/vella. Senior was huber/ehman, who is a born-again and slightly scared me. Harnick instilled more writing ideas than anyone else, but nogo was bald, and redmond made a lot of constructive remarks, but he handed back the essay about 6 months after it was due, so not too helpful. I think nogo was the best in AP Euro because of all the essays assigned, you got practice

Re: OCD vs. Indifference (or Roommates, Shots, and other things that come in threes)
Nogo was good, I'll give him that. But Nogo didn't teach me how to write about poetry or how to explain Shelley's ideas in the fifth stanza of "Ode to the West Wind" (which I can do pretty well, plzthnx). Nogo taught me how to connect historical events together. Derrico taught me how to connect texts with other texts and historical contexts and stuff. She also taught me that the Odyssey really doesn't suck as much as I remember it.

Re: OCD vs. Indifference (or Roommates, Shots, and other things that come in threes)
I find the writing I learned in the History department to be more practical though. I can't imagine a time when I will need the skills to describe poetry, but in any field of science, history, or business requires the ability to write persuasively and briefly. If you have a love for the language, it's great to have those skills, but for a class that is mandatory for 12 years, it didn't give me as many practical tools as I would have expected.

I personally acknowledge Mr. Harnick as THE Best Teacher I have ever had
Re: OCD vs. Indifference (or Roommates, Shots, and other things that come in threes)
that be true right there. out of all the classes I have taken for a very long time, ex:math and english - the only one which really continued to advance after a point was math. english just kinda petered out. I'd draw a graph (which I learned in math) but I can't do that on the forum. sooryJ-Mads wrote:... but for a class that is mandatory for 12 years, it didn't give me as many practical tools as I would have expected.

In AP Lit here, we took English to a whole new level with critical lens analysis. Literary Criticism is basically where English takes off
Re: OCD vs. Indifference (or Roommates, Shots, and other things that come in threes)
WHOO-HOOOOO! YEAHHHHHH!
(I am really excited about English. Just OWNED my last Brit Lit test and got an 11/10, which I'm pretty sure is the highest mark in the class because only three people got the bonus, myself included. I love Percy Shelley and John Keats <3)

It's tough for me between him, Pankow, and Sondel.

Re: OCD vs. Indifference (or Roommates, Shots, and other things that come in threes)
I can't speak to either of them, but for me, what Harnick instilled in how to write an essay was so necessary and so important to me. Not to mention that he somehow infiltrated my soul and influenced my teaching style beyond any other teacher. I had a lot of good teachers, many like Nogowski, Smith, Bastian, Reilly, and even Spitznogle taught me loads of good skills and instilled vibrant passions, but Harnick stands out as so vital to my education. I owe him so much to my mentality, my teaching style, etc. Not to mention the fact that he is the reason the majority of last year's Honors English 11 students at Pewaukee hate me...

ah, spitznoggle. I remember those days. drew, remember when we did that group project, but while it was a group proj, we were supposed to do it separately?

Schiavoni Lab! YAY! That was so fun when Schivaoni didn't teach us anything and spent the entire class in that side room with her snacks and Mr. Kirisit's dog.
Remember also how we handed in the exact same lab and got different scores with Spitznogle...

especially with schiavoni when we did that lab with the bowl/dome, and the breaking of the glass container.

I learned the most from Spanish 4A, namely what sort of teacher I never, ever, ever want to have again.
